EAT
Chain of sandwich shops founded in 1996 with 95 branches across the UK, 75 of which were in London
How Metcalfe helped EAT

Problem
The sandwich shops were dispensing miso soup from value range hot water urns.
Customers would fill their own bowls but would "tilt" the urns as the levels became lower than the dispensing tap causing spillage and an H&S issue for customers.
Water urns would “boil dry" before staff had the chance to refill them leading to element damage on the urns across all sites, meaning that the unit had to be disposed of and immediately replaced.

Solution
Robatherm urns have the tap positioned lower so no need to tilt the urn.
The pre-set temperature switch prevented end user tampering with the thermostat thus preventing boil dry.
Double wall insulation meant that it was safe to operate and use in crowded areas, especially during high peak service.
Thermostat could be reset in the event of the element over heating
Embedded heating element meant that it was easy to clean

Result
Customer safety increased by customers no longer in danger of spilling hot soup over themselves or tipping the hot water urn over.
Elimination of units being replaced due to element damage caused by boiling dry.
Seamless, more cost effective service restored across the chain.
