Q: What size immersion blender do I need?
A: As you will be using the immersion blender at an angle and not fully vertical you will need to select one with a shaft length longer than the depth of your pan. For example if using a pan with a height of 160mm you would need the DM190 or DM225. If using a brat plan then revert to the litre capacity specification for guidance.
Q: Can I use it to blend hummus?
A: No. The reason they are called immersion blenders is because they need to be immersed in liquid. A mix that is too thick will burn out the motor. Nothing thicker than a soup, sauce or Level 3 IDDSI should be blended. For hummus we would recommend a bowl cutter.
Q: Can I blend a hot mixture?
A: Yes, but ensure the heat to the pan is turned off before mixing or blending.
